Our records indicate that you are in the final stages of obtaining your degree. Congratulations! It has probably been a long, hard road for you. I realize that you probably want to think about your future, as opposed to the past, however, I must now make a request. If your research has involved the use of hazardous chemicals or compressed gases, please make certain that left-overs have been properly disposed of in the appropriate manner. Within the next week or so, a member of our Committee will be visiting you to see if you need any help or have some mitigating circumstance. If you have any questions, please feel free to give me a call.
The disposal of hazardous waste is becoming more and more of an issue for all researchers. The costs are becoming astronomical. The situation gets worse if the labels fall off the bottles, which tends to happen when people leave. Sometimes years go by before old stashes of chemicals are "rediscovered".
Your help in this area will be greatly appreciated. Thank you.
