As the use of computers becomes more wide spread, more and more case of repetitive stress injuries have been reported. This subcommittee gives advice on the set-up of computer work stations in order to try and prevent injuries before they happen. If anyone in SEAS, Physics or EPS feel that their computer stations are contributing to eyestrain, back pain, or wrist pain (for example), this committee is available for consultation. The chair of this committee works closely with Environmental Health and Safety.
As computer use has grown, so have the reported cases of Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI). For additional information on RSI and its prevention, contact RSI Action, a Harvard student group dedicated to making our community more aware of the problem or a very informative site at MIT. If you would like your workstation setup evaluated, please make an appointment Nancy Barbour from EH&S.
